Chapter Text
Schlatt awoke to the sound of a swishing tail and a pair of beady brown eyes staring back at him. “Morning, Jambo,” he groaned. “I guess you’re hungry?” Sighing, he rolled out of bed, unplugging his phone and sticking it in the pocket of his sweatpants before making his way to the kitchen. The sound of him pouring two bowls of cat food caused the orange feline to come running into the kitchen, followed closely behind by his newer, darker colored companion.
As the cats started in on their breakfast, Schlatt made his way over to his coffee machine and began to brew an extra dark roast. After a minute or two, his coffee was ready, and he poured it into a mug before lifting it to his lips. The bitterness of the steaming black coffee helped to ease the pain of the slight headache he had woken up with.
Leaning against the counter with his mug in one hand, Schlatt reached the other into his pocket, pulling out his phone. He opened up twitter and skimmed through his mentions and messages, nothing quite catching his eye. Next, he opened up instagram, and opening his notifications, noticed an odd like on an older post. Up until that point, the events of the previous night had been out of his mind, but he clicked on the account of the person who liked the photo of him and Jambo, and realized it was you. With a hazy recollection, memories sprang forth of a kind voice, warm laugh, and charming sense of humor. A warm feeling of happiness filled his chest, but so did a sense of dread; considering his crassness the previous night, he had probably scared you away. With a self-conscious grimace, he clicked the “follow back” button before turning to his cats, both of whom had finished eating.
“She must think you’re cute or something, Jambo.”

“Hi, chat!” You said, smiling brightly at your webcam. “How are we today?” You asked, having just switched from displaying your ‘stream starting soon’ screen to displaying the Minecraft main menu, your facecam active in the top left corner.
“We are doing something very exciting today, chat! I’m gonna be joining a Minecraft SMP with some other streamers called the SDMP!” You watched as your chat became abuzz with excitement: full of emotes, positive comments, and various questions, most of which you did your best to reply to before you clicked ‘join game.’
As you spawned in the clearing you had made the night before, you explained to your chat, “I actually already played on the server a little bit last night, just gathering some of the necessities and exploring the world. I wanted to pick out an area to build my house, and I think I found the perfect one!” You explained, turning your character in a circle.
“I’ll take you guys on a tour in a little bit, but if you’re familiar with the server already, you should know that this area is kinda on the far end of the spawn island, past AntVenom’s house and the Olive Garden. And yes, there is an Olive Garden on the server, although I think it’s still under construction.”
Next, you decided to walk around the island, explaining things to your chat and greeting other players you passed. Eventually reaching Jawsh’s huge build, you stopped and put your character into third person mode using F5.
“Alright guys,” you said, punching the air, “the plan for today is: first, to get started on a cute house. I’m thinking we make a little cottage with lots of flowers and maybe some pens for pets or other animals. Next, I want to find a good source of food, maybe from fishing. And finally, I want to talk to the other people on here and try to make friends!” As you said the last bit, you noticed a figure running towards you from behind. Going back into first person mode, you turned and realized it was Jawsh.
“Hello!” You said, cheerfully, hoping to get started on your final objective early. However, he didn’t respond, and instead he punched you, knocking you back into the water surrounding his home. “Oookay… point taken.” You chuckled, starting to swim back to the big island.
You spent the next hour or so gathering materials for your house: cutting down cherry trees, mining cobblestone, and, of course, picking a ton of flowers. With the addition of the new biomes and plants from the mods on the server, you had an exciting time exploring the world and looking for materials while talking to your chat. The final things you needed were some firefly jars and fir wood, but those had to be collected from the twilight forest, a new dimension added by one of the mods. So, after a little bit of messaging with others on the server's discord chat looking for people to go adventuring with, you decided to meet up with Sinjin Drowning, aka Weston and Kalynn, and Selmacashmoney, aka Selma.
You and Selma met first and walked to Weston and Kalynn’s house. You made your way into their basem*nt storage room, and you were soon joined by the siblings, who climbed down the ladder and looked at you both.
“Hi?” Said Kaylnn.
“Hi!” Said Weston, adding, “do you guys live here now?”
“Uh… yeah.” Replied Selma.
“We’ve actually been living down here for quite some time now, I can’t believe you haven’t noticed!” You chimed in jokingly.
“Oh good! Kalynn, we have roommates!!! Now come with us, let’s go to the twilight forest!” Weston said, enthusiastically. You both obliged, following him and Kalynn up the ladder and out of the house. As you made your way down the path with Weston singing a silly tune, you passed Mienah, Meowriza, and Schlatt, who were in the midst of a conversation. Suddenly, Weston stopped and turned around, looking back at the small group.
“JSchlatt!” He called.
“Yeah?” Schlatt responded.
“Where’s the twilight forest? How do you go there?” Weston asked.
“I have no idea, why are you asking me?”
“I- you own the server, don't you? It’s like Mr. You-”
“What the f*ck is she wearing?” Schlatt interrupted, staring at Selma, whose Minecraft skin was a buff villager wearing a black bikini.
“It’s just a bikini,” responded Selma.
“I’m scared of that,” said Schlatt, while at the same time Weston chimed in with an “I think it looks good!”
“I think you’re beautiful.” Meowriza complemented.
“I agree, I think you’re gorgeous, sister!” You exclaimed.
“Thank you, I’ve been working out!” Said Selma, turning around and crouching so her character’s butt stuck out towards the group.
“Okay, that has to be against the rules.” Schlatt said, exasperated.
“I thought it was good!” said Weston, and turning around once again, said, “now let’s bring that energy to the twilight forest!”
As the rest of your new friends started walking away, you looked at Schlatt once more and threw him a lavender flower out of your inventory wordlessly, as a thanks for his kindness the previous night, before turning and following the others.
With some directions from Tucker, along with an escort from Ted, the four of you eventually made your way to the portal to the twilight forest, a mysterious two by two purple hole in the ground.
“Thank you, Ted!” Said Weston.
“You’re welcome, Weston and Trina Vega of Victorious,” Ted responded, alluding to Kalynn’s Minecraft skin and username based on the character.
“What about us!?” Selma asked, prompting Ted to turn around and look at the two of you.
“Uh-” he stammered, quickly running behind you and punching the both of you into the portal before you had time to react.
